In health care, current skills keep care safe. For nurses in Minnesota, continuing education is a licence condition; for assisted-living direct-care staff, being able to respond to resident emergencies is required, and first aid and CPR are part of that training. Here is what the rules expect for your role, and how recognized, up-to-date, documented training meets it.

Nurses in Minnesota are licensed and overseen by the Minnesota Board of Nursing, which requires 24 contact hours per 24-month registration period (a ratio of one hour per month). Activities must be relevant to nursing practice.
Under the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and the Board's rules, a nurse must maintain competence and be able to act in an emergency. Basic life support (BLS) is, in practice, an employer and hospital requirement rather than a licence condition — a credential most clinical roles must hold and keep valid.
Minnesota requires 24 contact hours per 24-month registration period. Because the Board accepts courses from any an accredited body-accredited provider, an approved CPR, ACLS or PALS course awarding contact hours can contribute; a plain BLS provider card is not itself CE.

Assisted-living facilities under Chapter 144G must ensure staff can respond promptly to resident emergencies, and direct-care training commonly includes first aid and CPR. The role calls for a valid first-aid and CPR certificate in addition to occupational training: a recognized standalone certificate meets that expectation and must be renewed to stay current.
